MANIPUR-my country,my land

Manipur is my homeland.I am a manipuri lad.God has blessed me.This small yet picturesque land between the hills is indeed one of the heavenly abode that one always wish for.Whenever I think of my birthplace,I always remember the poem of Ralph Waldo Emerson,"A Nation's Strength".This poem makes you think on the line of patroitism as well as self discipline.Patroitism must not be confused with chauvinism..which takes many forms like linguistic,religious,regional.Patroitism is above all this.It means the honesty and dedication that an individual can put forth for the rise of his land and no where does it involve selfishness and jealousy,because everything takes time to grow and one has to be patient enough.We cannot build a nation in a fortnight.

A NATION'S STRENGTH
Ralph Waldo Emerson
What makes a nation's pillars high
And it's foundations strong?
What makes it mighty to defy
The foes that round it throng?
It is not gold.
Its kingdoms grand
Go down in battle shock;
Its shafts are laid on sinking sand,
Not on abiding rock.
Is it the sword?
Ask the red dust
Of empires passed away;
The blood has turned their stones to rust,
Their glory to decay.And is it pride?
Ah, that bright crown
Has seemed to nations sweet;
But God has struck its luster down
In ashes at his feet.

Not gold but only men can make
A people great and strong;
Men who for truth and honor's sake
Stand fast and suffer long.
Brave men who work while others sleep,
Who dare while others fly...
They build a nation's pillars deep
And lift them to the sky.
Its worth mentioning here,the Loktak lake for its breathtaking beauty.The location of the lake is in symphony and has deeper meaning considering that it is in the valley surrounded by all the hills that signifies the vastness and serenity of the place.
Manipuri Dance is of various forms and each style is unique to depict the devotion and grace.
